Midnight Delight wins six awards in Accolade Global Film Competition!

Rohit Gupta’s film Midnight Delight, which is composed of 9 vignettes of characters at a smoking lounge and their hilarious antics that ensue when they get high, is continuing to reach ‘high’er and ‘high’er with each passing day!  The film has been dominating film festivals, and has been winning award after award! It is ‘high’ly unlikely that this winning streak will come to an end!  In fact, Midnight Delight, written and directed by Rohit Gupta, has won not one but six prestigious awards at The Accolade Global Film Competition 2016! The awards the film received were for — Best feature film; Direction; Concept; Humor; Overall post-production and Best Lead actor to Michael Laguerre (playing as Mike).

In winning an Accolade, Gupta’s production house, Dot and Feather Entertainment joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award including the Oscar winning production of The Lady in Number Six by Malcolm Clarke, the very talented Dave Bossert of Disney for his short documentary, The Tunes Behind The Toons, Hollywood industry veteran Ron Howard for When You Find Me and Highwire Films Australia for their popular ABC TV series twentysomething.  After a successful run in prestigious film festivals and non-stop awards, Midnight Delight is readying for its worldwide launch next month, July 2016!

Rohit Gupta is obviously excited with the accolades.  He told us,

“The process of putting together this project was collaboration at its best in every department. Receiving appreciation for its result from The Accolade only enhanced its worthiness. We are happy and thankful to the Accolade team.”

His third commended directorial film in a row (Life! Camera Action… & Another Day Another Life, being the previous two) has consistently garnered recognition and honors throughout the country.  Midnight Delight had won the “Judges Choice Film of the Festival” award at the Cannabis Film Festival in Humboldt County, California, where the jury stated, “Watching MidnightDelight is like smoking a cinematic joint.” It also won the ‘Classics’ award as the top honors in its category at the Camp Cult Classics Film Festival; F.A.M.E.’US award for the ‘Best Feature Film’ at FAME’US Int. Film Festival in LA; and Platinum award for the “Best Experimental Film” at the Oregon International Film Awards. At the film’s Washington state premiere at the Hempapalooza Music and Film Festival, it was said, “Midnight Delight is a pure cinematic aphrodisiac that brings a completely new and unique take on cannabis-based movies and culture.

When asked about the significance of the title, Gupta replied, “Midnight Delight has been my all time favorite ice-cream cake from Cold Stone Creamery.

An ecstatic Michael Laguerre told us the following about accepting his first international award for his debut film,

“I’d like to thank the Accolade Global Film Competition for recognizing me with this award. I think I can speak for everyone involved with Midnight Delight in saying that we all had such an amazing experience collaborating on this project. We are extremely happy and proud that so many are enjoying the end result. I thank you.”

Saumin Mehta post-produced the film including an animated sequence and co-produced with Gupta.  He was elated with the award and had the following to say,

“Since the film was shot as an improvisatory piece we practically built the film in post which was a great and fun filled experience. I thank The Accolade for this amazing recognition.”

The Accolade recognizes professionals who demonstrate exceptional achievement in craft and creativity, and those who produce standout entertainment or contribute to profound social change.
