Movie Review: For Here Or To Go? Calls Attention to the Plight of H1-B Visa Holders in the US!

The American Dream, although grand, gave rise to the largest and emotionally tolling rat race of the millennium. Many Cups of Chai Films‘ latest venture ‘For Here to Go?‘ calls attention to the post recession plight of H1-B visa holders in America.

Vivek Pandit (Ali Fazal), an ambitious IT guy from India settles in Silicon Valley in aspiration of a bright future. He along with his roommates (Omi Vaidya, Amitosh Nagpal, Samrat Chakrabarti) learn the hard way that a green card is not just paperwork but years of struggle and luck. On the flip side of the story we see Vishwanath Prabhu (Rajit Kapur), an experienced entrepreneur and immigrant sees H1-B visas as a curse.

The beauty of the film is the personal touch writer Rishi S. Bhilawadikar adds to the script. Prior to being a writer Bhilawadikar was employed on an H-1B visa in the United States which helps shape the story line. Director Rucha Humnabadkar eloquently brings to life the underlying emotions of Bhilawadikar script which are then translated brilliantly by actors Ali Fazal, Omi Vaidya and Amitosh Nagpal making the film a complete package. Melanie Kannokada as a second generation immigrant Shveta adds an insightful touch film. Overall, ‘For Here to Go?‘ is a film which should not be missed.

For Here to Go?‘ will be served in a theater near you March 31st.
