STYLE FILE: The Best of the Best on the Golden Globes Red Carpet!

The Hollywood award season swung into high gear with last night’s 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, where the best and brightest of film and television showed up to collect honors from the prestigious Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

As Hollywood A-listers crowded onto the red carpet, fashionistas everywhere rejoiced at the parade of designer dresses and sparkling jewels on display. It was certainly a night to remember!

Here are our picks for the ten best dressed at the 2017 Golden Globes.

Lily Collins in Zuhair Murad

Best Actress nominee Lily Collins looked every inch the fairytale princess in this baby pink Zuhair Murad Couture gown. A messy braided updo kept the Rules Don’t Apply star from looking too twee, and the red lips made the whole look pop. We’re in love!

Evan Rachel Wood in Altuzarra

Evan Rachel Wood may play an old school damsel on HBO’s Westworld, but in reality, her style is much edgier. Looking too cool for school in this perfectly tailored Altuzarra suit, Evan made a very deliberate decision to skip the traditional gown this year, saying, “I love dresses, I’m not trying to protest dresses, but I wanted to make sure that young girls and women knew they aren’t a requirement, and that you don’t have to wear one if you don’t want to.” That’s a message we can certainly get behind!

Olivia Culpo in Zuhair Murad

They say fashion is art, and former Miss Universe Oliver Culpo looked like a walking painting in this stunning Zuhair Murad gown. She kept her accessories simple, letting the hand-painted gown speak for itself. The model-actress looked gorgeous, but better yet, she looked like no one else on the red carpet, proving that bucking trends is sometimes the best way to stand out in a crowd.

Emma Stone in Valentino Haute Couture

Emma Stone took home a Best Actress trophy for her role in La La Land, a film already being touted as a new-age classic Hollywood musical. Considering the film she was representing, Emma was styled to absolute perfection. The silhouette, hair, and accessories screamed Old Hollywood glamour, while the silver star embellishments added a whimsical, modern touch. It was just the right look for a star paying homage to the women who came before her!

Janelle Monae in Armani

Trust Janelle Monae to show us something different on the red carpet! The singer-actress, who worked on the nominated films Hidden Figures and Moonlight, rocked this polka dot high-low dress, accessorizing with a Jimmy Choo clutch, Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, and over $650k worth of jewelry from Forevermark. On anyone else, the look might have felt overdone, but Janelle pulled it off with ease!

Viola Davis in Michael Kors Collection

Sometimes, simplicity works best, as it did for Supporting Actress winner Viola Davis in this gorgeous one-shoulder Michael Kors gown. What really made an impression was the canary yellow color of the gown; against Viola’s beautiful skin tone, the color popped on the red carpet in a way other yellow gowns worn last night didn’t. It just goes to prove that the dress is only as good as the woman wearing it!

Issa Rae in Christian Siriano

Can you believe that this is Issa Rae’s first major red carpet appearance?! The star of HBO’s Insecure looked anything but insecure in this figure-hugging, full-sleeved white beaded gown by Christian Siriano. She finished off the look with a matching clutch, simple jewelry, and understated makeup. If this is what Issa is capable of on her first outing, we can’t wait to see what she brings to the red carpet in the future!

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton

This lacy off-the-shoulder Louis Vuitton gown was understatedly elegant, but what really made this look memorable was the fact that Michelle chose to accessorize not with thousands of dollars worth of jewelry, but with a simple black choker. The dichotomy of casual and formal made for a truly intriguing look, one that suited Michelle well.

Blake Lively in Atelier Versace

Blake Lively’s bangin’ post-baby body was perfect for this figure-hugging Atelier Versace number. The plunging neckline and chainmail trim gave the black gown a distinct edge, and the emerald jewels she accessorized with were perfectly chosen to make the look pop.

Naomie Harris in Armani

Moonlight star Naomie Harris was certainly on trend in this silver metallic Giorgio Armani gown. The plunging neckline and snug fit of the gown was sexy, while the side-swept hair and understated makeup were elegant. Put it all together, and you’re left with a perfectly balanced red carpet look!
