Kickstarting 2017 with a bang is songstress Jankee who’s launched her brand new cover single today titled “Midnight Jazz” – and we will tell you we played repeat a few times!
Wife of leading TV star Nakuul Mehta (Ishqbaaz) and lead vocalist of her band Jankee and Friends, Jankee brings to you a beautiful 40s Jazz version of the Bollywood film tracks – Shaam Bhi Koi and Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh intermeshed to build a film noir kind of vibe. The video features Jankee along with her TV world buddy Siddhanth Karnick, who’re seen jiving away to the jazz beats!
Taking about her latest cover, Jankee says,
“My latest Cover ‘Midnight Jazz’ is my ode to the classics of the 40’s and 50’s. Love, Romance and Jazz was my theme and I wanted to create a track around it. So we came up with a beautiful blend of these 2 tracks – the evergreen Ajeeb Dastan and the very soulful Shaam bhi koi from the film Aisha have tried to create a retro Jazz version of this mashup both in its musical rendition and visual showcase.”
Ask her about her plans for the year and if she’s going to be announcing any new collaborations, she says,
“My plan for 2017 is to do loads of covers, collaborations & also originals. In addition to studio works, being on stage and performing live gives me an absolute high! So, I’m looking forward to touring a lot with my band ‘Jankee and Friends’ for our various gigs.”
We just love that name ‘Jankee and Friends’ – now that is one rocking group name!
