Top 10 Bollywood songs of 2016!

It’s that time of year again! 2016 has been relatively positive for the Bollywood industry, with some inspiring films and a mix of catchy and melodious songs. Needless to say, it was very difficult to narrow this list down to just 10 tracks but without further ado, we present to you, in no particular order, the top 10 Bollywood songs of 2016.

Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi (Airlift)

The year started off with a bang as the Akshay Kumar-Nimrat Kaur starrer Airlift flew into cinemas and people’s hearts successfully. Dil Cheez Tujhe Dedi is essentially the Afghan Jalebi of 2016. Middle-Eastern inspired numbers have always been popular in B-town and this one rightfully follows suit as one of the catchiest melodies.

Sanam Re (Sanam Re)

Sanam Re was one of the most visually stunning romantic films of the year, featuring picturesque scenery from Ladakh and Tibet. The title track, sung by Arijit Singh, instantly became a chartbuster. The harmonies are simply to die for in this soulful melody!

Kar Gayi Chull (Kapoor and Sons)

Kar Gayi Chull is one of those house party numbers that always gets people up on their feet and dancing. This song features hip beats, cool choreography, and lots of fun.

Jag Ghoomeya (Sultan)

Sung by none other than Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Jag Ghoomeya is a soul-stirring song that fuses traditional and contemporary elements of orchestration in a typical Haryanvi style. Needless to say, Salman Khan’s moves add an extra spunk to this number.

Pyar Ki (Housefull 3)

Pyar Ki is one of the funniest and catchiest songs from Housefull 3. The lyrics and the rap are hilarious but set to simple choreography, the track has somewhat of a suave vibe.

Sarsariya (Mohenjo Daro)

Mohenjo Daro is truly an epic film, with larger than life sets and visual effects. A.R. Rahman’s music also reflects the historical era depicted in the movie, with elements of sounds from nature and integrating bits and pieces of ancient languages. Sarsariya is a dynamic song that introduces us to the world of Mohenjo Daro.

Jaaneman Aah (Dishoom)

To be honest, the first time I heard this song I hated it, but this is a party number that grows on you. Several listens later, you can’t help but get up and dance along every time it plays. Not to mention, it features the smoking hot pair Varun Dhawan and Parineeti Chopra, who we hope to see more of onscreen!

Channa Mereya (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil)

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is one of the best albums in its entirety of 2016. Each and every song is so melodious that it was difficult to choose just one. Channa Mereya has slowly made its way into everyone’s hearts as a quintessential Arijit Singh classic.

Kala Chashma (Baar Baar Dekho)

This recreated version of Prem Hardeep’s original Kala Chashma is one of the best rehashed songs of the year! Bosco-Caesar’s choreography for this 2.0 party number has gone totally viral, with Bollywood aficionados all over the world grooving out to Sid and Katrina’s moves.

Ude Dil Befikre (Befikre)

Last but certainly not the least, Ude Dil Befikre has one of the most haunting orchestrations that will leave you lingering for more Darbouka and other Middle-Eastern elements. Benny Dayal has just killed it with his vocals in this one.
