Last Friday saw the clash of two films: Mirzya, which marked the debuts of Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher, and the family entertainer Tutak Tutak Tutiya, featuring the dance moves and rib-tickling comedy of Prabhudeva and Sonu Sood.
Judging by the box office receipts, audiences across the nation were in the mood to laugh, and supernatural comedy Tutak Tutak Tutiya “spooked” the box office prospects of Mirzya.
With catchy songs and strong word of mouth, Tutak Tutak Tutiya has managed to rake in 10.25 crores in all languages, while Mirzya seems to be at a standstill after a 5.2-crore opening weekend. With a three-week window, Tutak Tutak Tutiya has plenty of room for growth at the box office, with a strong showing at single screens as well as multiplexes.
