Producer of Badho Bahu, which is one of the most exciting shows on TV currently, Sushant Kumar has had a rather exciting life. Coming from a small town to creating a TV show (Humtum Telefilms along with Teena Swayyam) along with Deepti Kalwani (Sunny Side Up) , Sushant has achieved a lot. In an interview, he talks about his life and career choices and the challenges involved in creating a popular show BADHO BAHU
Tell us something about your background.
I was born in Patna and I have done my schooling and college from Delhi. My father works in the Administration department. If there’s one thing that I’ve learnt seeing him work is dedication. He always told Me that without dedication towards your work, it’s impossible to achieve anything in life. In my case, I was dedicated to the performing arts. From my childhood wanted to be a part creative field, learned performing art done a theatre in Delhi Acted in various play after coming to Mumbai I joined Mr. Prakash Jha Sir and assisted him for 5 years and then developed my skills learned a lot from him about films & film making!
How did you launch your production house HUM TUM telefilms?
Well, I always wanted to start my own production house, but I didn’t want to do it too early in my career. I wanted to do some good acting work before that. However, life took a different turn and with the help of Teenna and my close friend Rajesh Shandilya, we started our production house Hum Tum tele-films Pvt Ltd
Tell us more about your association with your partner Teena Swayyam.
Teenna and I know each other since childhood, but we got close only when I returned from Delhi to Mumbai. Teena Swayyam is a family friend who comes from a business family – she is very talented and has a great presence of mind It’s actually quite funny how we started it. So, we’re like best friends. And one day, Teenna, who is literally full of surprises! One time she called me as she was vacationing in Mauritius and said,
‘Sushant I want to start a production house.’
My reaction was just pure laughter! But she said she was serious and wanted to get started as soon as she was back. And here we are, making shows now!
Tell us about Badho Bahu cast!
We have Rytasha, who is superbly dedicated. And there is Prince ,Arhan who is great, with full of fun on set ..and there is Pankaj Dheer ji. They are all talented people, We’re set as a team and enjoy working with each other. It’s a fantastic experience
What all is Hum Tum telefilms involved in?
Hum Tum telefilms is a full-fledged production house. We are into producing feature films, television shows and web series. Currently there is an on-going project which we plan to announce soon to the media. Apart from that, we have our show Badho Bahu on &TV. This production house started producing films in 2015 and in 2016, we joined hands with Deepti Kalwani for Badho Bahu
Your show Badho Bahu is rather unique. What is the feedback you are getting for it?
Oh, the response to the show has been surprising. When the promo was launched, we got a good feedback and people said it looks quite promising. From news channels to audience in foreign countries and even in our respective hometowns; we are getting appreciated all over.
What is your vision for your company?
The vision of our company is to be financially so strong financially that we can have multiple shows at the same time. In the next 5 years we are looking forward to at least have 5 to 6 shows to be aired at the same time. There have been major projects which we will talk about later. We are always looking for unique and different content for our audience, As of now we can say that we have the best creative and
other production teams and we hope for growth soon. We will also be working on web series soon. For the time being, television is our top priority. Later, we plan to shift our focus on films as well.
