"Rajan Shahi is a cool producer!" – Anshul Pandey

Anshul Pandey, who is known for his contribution to iconic shows such as Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Baade Ache Lagte Hai, has had quite an experience playing Naman. In a heart to heart the actor spoke to us about his chracter and more. Hers what he has to say:

Anshul Pandey

You have been part of the longest running show in a Indian television history. How does it feel?
It feels overwhelming and extremely proud to be associated with such a grand and historical show. Thanks to the hard work put in by the channel, producer, whole cast and crew this show has become one of the best and the most loved show ever in Indian television and thus you become a part of a legacy.

Rajan Shahi is one of the most sought after producers in the television world. What’s it like working with him?
When a producer like Mr. Rajan Shahi is the one responsible for running the longest and the most loved show in Indian television, you immediately can tell that he is an easy, amicable and an approachable person to work with and thats the reason for most of the cast being a part of the show even after so many years.Well for me personally it’s been a great, hassle free experience working with him which I will always cherish and have had some really interesting conversations with him too.Let me put it this way, he is a “cool” producer.

Your character was given a short break with the abrupt change in track. How easy or difficult is it to deal with such abrupt changes? How do actors cope with such a change?
Well I must say this year has been a tough one for me and my character. There have been abrupt brakes for me a couple of time this year due to the storyline. One currently as Naman and Naitik have travelled abroad and one earlier this year when my track turned grey in February which led to me being thrown out of the house till i learned my lesson. So practically I wasn’t shooting the whole of February and then again am off shoot for a month.During this time it is really tough because you are away from the lights, camera, action. You dearly miss being back on the set and back among the act. At the same time it gives you time to travel, catch up on more family time and look into things that you hadn’t had a chance till now. I personally hate being idle and so am just eager to get back into the thick of things.

What kind of projects are you looking forward to in the future?
After being part of two big shows(YRKKH and BALH) I am looking to do a lead in the future. I also don’t mind portraying a negative shaded character and am keen on doing films.

Tell me about the worst day you had in your career. What pushed you forward? What inspired you to keep working?
This industry comes with its ups and downs. Every project that I haven’t got has been the worst day of my career. Where as every project that I have got has been the best days. The worst days have pushed me to work harder and more determined. When you see your hard work and talent pay off and you see yourself being a part of big projects you feel great joy. Seeing myself slowly achieving success has inspired me always to work even harder.

Who would you consider to be your biggest support system in the industry?
I didn’t know anybody from the industry and whatever I have achieved so far on my own terms and hard work. So my support system is my family and my loved ones.

Where do you see yourself professionally in 10 years?
Doing even better and bigger projects than now and entertaining everybody. I have got big dreams so ofcourse 10 years down the line it should be really grand.
