A- list producer Yash Patnaik who has produced Saada Haq , Jana Na Dil Se Door, Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi and Nagarjuna got a bit teary eyed upon seeing Sarabjit as he recalls sister Dalbir Kaur’s visit on the sets of hit show Veera in May 2015.

When we asked Yash Patnaik how does it feel to know that Dalbir Kaur and her family are fans of Veera, he says,

“I was pleasantly surprised to receive a call from Dalbirji, the elder sister of Sarabjit Singh. She got my number through a writer friend Rajesh Beri who is writing the film on Sarabjit Singh. She wanted to meet me and Mamta and the entire cast of Veera. She met us at the office in the morning and went on talking about the show. She and her family have been following Veera from the first episode that is 29th of October 2012. She told us how our show used to remind her about her brother. Dalbirji told us how she, her family and neighbors watch Veera and its repeats. She kept on mentioning sequence from initial days till date. Apart from the story and characters they love the way we have made the show – the authenticity, detailing and simplicity.”

He continues,

Dalbir ji and Sarabjit’s daughter Poonam wanted to meet the earlier cast as well so we had called Bhavesh and Harshita also on the sets. It became like a small get-together for both old and new cast. And to make this day special for them, the entire cast and crew will spend the day with both of them followed by a cake cutting in memory of Sarabjit Singhji.

This was a special case of fan, is there any special compliment like it that you have got for Veera? Yash smiles and shares,

“It’s so wonderful to see that so many people love the show. It’s very difficult to pick one, there have been so many. One of them is from Mr. Suraj Barjatya. At one of the Star Parivaar Awards he came up to me and congratulated me on Veera and said ‘You have made a beautiful show.’ A compliment like this coming from a stalwart like him, it was special and precious.”

So isn’t he the perfect person to share the secret formula of a super hit show, when asked Yash, he laughed off and said,

“There is no secret for a success in our industry. It should touch the hearts of the audiences and I think the fact that this was the first full-fledged show on brother-sister bonding made it unique. There were no big stars, no big drama but a newness in storytelling, casting, production designing and above all simplicity that clicked with the audience. Veera is a rare show which has been critically acclaimed as well as massy.”

“I wish Omung Kumar, Rajesh Beri and the cast and crew for the wonderful film. Aishwariya Rai and Randeep Hooda have given good performance.” Yash signs off.
