Mughal-E-Azam sequel to be produced by Farah Sultan Ahmed

Fifty six years after the release of K Asif’s iconic film Mughal-E-Azam, late producer-director Sultan Ahmed’s wife Farah is now working on its sequel, which is tentatively titled Anarkali Ki Wapasi under Sultan Productions. The script for the same has apparently been developed by Sultan, who assisted K. Asif on the classic movie.

Informs a source from the production banner,

“We had attempted a few films, including a remake of our own production Ganga Ki Saugandh, but we didn’t want to touch the original so dropped the idea” However, the production house is back on its feet and Anarkali Ki Wapasi will be one of the biggest project from the stable.” Farah confirms,

“We have revived the banner and have a few scripts on hand. The script of Anarkali Ki Wapasi was developed immediately after the release of Mughal-E-Azam. My husband had initiated the work on this concept in 1971, after launching his banner. It was his dream project. We will make a few modifications in the script to make it relevant for the current audience and plan to go on floors with it soon.”

Sultan has produced several hits, including Dharam Kaanta, Ganga Ki Saugandh and Jai Vikraanta. The legacy of late Sultan Ahmed is being taken forward by his wife Farah Sultan Ahmed and two sons Ali Abbas Sultan and Ali Akbar Sultan. the buzz about the productino house is very good and they have excellent good will in the industry.
