Ali Abbas Sultan Ahmed has a towering reputation to live up to – that of his father, the later filmmaker Sultan Ahmed, who has given hits like Dharamkaanta, Ganga Ki Saugandh and Jai Vikranta. And he is quite aware of it.
“It’s a matter of honor and prestige. I feel privileged to be the one to take the legacy ahead of such a great respected man, who has contributed much to Hindi cinema,”
he says, adding in the same breath that he has a long way to go.
“I’d like to describe my journey to ‘success as a road under construction’. After my father’s death, I finished schooling from St.Peters, an ICSE boarding school in Panchgani and completed college in Mumbai. I started an event company called ThinkBig Entertainmentalong with my younger brother, which is doing quite well,”
reveals the budding producer. He wants to imbibe that passion of his father as a filmmaker.
“My father was a man of honor and always believed in doing quality work. He used to often say, ‘If you want to do big, think big!’,”
he recalls. Ali also credits his mom Farah Sultan to be his driving force.
“I don’t consider myself her pillar, in fact she is our pillar of strength.”
Seeing himself as a successful producer five years down the line, he has already taken a huge step as a newcomer, by taking on a sequel to none other than the iconic film, Mughal-E-Azam. Talking about the status of the sequel that has been titled Anarkali Ki Wapsi, he says,
“We are still working on a lot of things related to the script (story) as it needs a lot of polishing to make it relevant to today’s times. It’s an epic and an iconic film, so one needs to be very careful and precise when working on it,” reveals the dashing new filmmaker.
