Rekha Sawhney has recently been busy singing and acting in Gurinder Chadha’s critically acclaimed West End musical ‘Bend it like Beckham’. She has also just recorded this dynamic brand new liquid DnB track with D-Boy called ‘You Got Me’ (Sajana).
Different to the usual Bollywood & RnB vibes, this beautifully written Hindi and English song is about a girl reassuring her man that no matter what he faces, she will always be there by his side.
“This was actually a ballad but we felt the need to do something different and layered the liquid feel under the track,” D-boy said. “This is my U-Desi (Urban Desi) take on it, I wanted to explore and challenge the usual song structure/feel, and produce something fun.”
The music video was shot in Toronto, Canada, and directed by Pascal Bennett. The entire concept is based on four friends meeting in the 6 (a number more commonly used by Drake to signify Toronto). The group of young friends shares an adventure in this electric city displaying the city’s multi-cultural vibrancy and scenic beauty—of course, there’s a little romance brewing as well. Some of the video landmarks include Dundas Square and City Hall. The music studio sequences with Rekha Sawhney were shot at a recording studio in London.
