Rahul and Shikha give you ‘Ahir’ at Lakme Fashion Week!

Rahul and Shika’s ‘Vrisa’ label paid homage to everything beautiful in the interiors of Rajasthan and Kutch through their collection ‘Ahir’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016. It was the outcome of a wanderer’s soul and amalgamation of two arts and cultures.

The two pristine crafts like Rajasthan’s Bandhani and Kutch embroidery came together to create marvellous magic on the ramp. This collaboration gave the collection its essence of new nomadic, layered looks. The inspiration came from the goat herdsmen and rabaran ‘gypsy’ women, who have wandered through the interiors of these two areas.

The richness of the textile heritage came through the drapes in beautifully dyed and embellished fabrics. This was contemporized by effortless and chic modern styles that paid attention to essential details and was intended in making it adaptable for the current times.

Long flowing tunics graced the ramp that were adorned in pretty prints and embroidery. These were embellished and accessories with scarves that had the native tassels. Bandhani pants were teamed with breezy shirt and a matching tote for a cool contemporary look. Long tunics layered on skirts, maxi summer dresses and even the beautiful bordered Bandhani sari had amazing Kutch embroidery. When it came to making a fashion statement it was the mix of embroidery and prints on the backs of most garments that were truly eye-catching.

Revival role for the old culture, art and textiles was exceptionally done through the ‘Ahir’ collection by Rahul and Shikha’s ‘Vrisa’ label. It was the efforts put in these ensembles, which exuded admirable ease that worked well for present day ramblers.
