Prince William and Kate Middleton made history today by continuing efforts to bridge the gap between India and the British Royal family. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge landed in New Delhi this morning where they visited the iconic symbol of India’s freedom – The Gandhi Smriti.
The man who was once a threat to the British Empire became the most respected man in the world. Mahatma Gandhi’s non-violent protests played a huge role bringing India to independence.
Upon arrival at the sanctuary, the royal couple removed their shoes in respect of the sacred ground and then made their way to the Smriti.
Earlier on their trip, the Duke and Duchess had also paid respects to the victims of the Taj Palace attacks in Mumbai.
