The rapidly multiplying issue was kept under lock and key for centuries but with more social awareness and media support, the issue has come out in the open.
Ashvini Yardi of Vin Yard Films is set to speak of the rarely spoken issue with And TV’s upcoming venture Waaris.
The show speaks of a man who is so blinded by traditional patriarchal thinking that he refuses to acknowledge a girl child. Due to the lack of acceptance, the girl is forced to live like a boy.
Iqbal Khan, who was last seen in Pyaar Ko Ho Jaane Do will be seen playing the male lead on the show. Accompanying him is actress Arti Singh.
The show is set to hit screens in May.
