“Every Indian woman is a Rajni!” – Ridhima Pandit

Life OK’s latest venture Bahu Hamari Rajnikant has managed to grasp the audiences attention thanks to its new and innovative concept. The satirical sitcom with a twist focuses on the life of Rajni, a humanoid created by a dedicated scientist to ease the life of the human race, beginning with his own home. Ridhima Pandit, who essays the title role recently chatted with us regarding her role, the success of the show and much more. Here’s what she had to say:

Bahu Hamari Rajnikant has become a household name in a matter of episodes, how does it feel?

Aah!! It definitely feels great. I had not expected such quick fame, recognition and the love I have been able to garner through this amazing show. I am truly overwhelmed with the amount of messages I am receiving on social media from all over the world, my parents feeling proud of me, overnight I have a lot of fan following, fan pages dedicated to me. This just proves it all over again that television’s reach is absolutely outstanding. It has straight got me lodged in every viewers heart as their Rajni. I feel happy that I made the right choice rather the role chose me. It just makes me want to work harder and give my best.

What, according to you, is the USP of the show?

According to me it’s the “hatke” (different) concept, content is truly king in Bahu Hamari Rajnikant’s case. We have a great cast in place everyone has slipped in to their characters’ skin very effortlessly thanks to our director Mr Kapil Sharma and the super talented writers. Kudos to our producers Mr Amir Jaffar and Mrs Sonali Jaffar for dishing out such an edgy concept and last but not the least the channel Life OK which is known to be open to such different ideas hence making it a perfect host.

The show takes a more satirical approach to the idea of modern day working women, what’s your take on the modern woman?

A modern woman need not be a feminist alone, along with it there is no harm in ensuring you are homely too I think “balance” is the key here, I personally feel every Indian woman is a Rajni in herself i.e. excellent at getting things done, multi-tasking, trying to have an order at work and at home too.

Which female do you take inspiration from in life?

My mother. I don’t even know where to begin as to why she is an inspiration to me, I aspire to be like her in every aspect, from raising two proud daughters to ensuring her world revolved around us, I just wish to be half as good as her 🙂 Also my sister who is my rock, I am her responsibility at home 🙂 we have a nine year age gap hence she is just like a second mommy to me.

You are paired opposite Karan V Grover on the show. What’s it like working with him?

Oh it’s fabulous! We get along like a house on fire. I also respect him a lot he refines my performance as a co actor by giving out some valuable tips during filming the scenes. He is a very warm person everyone can vouch for the same on set. He and me share the same zodiac sign, we are very similar in many ways hence it’s always great to have a co star whose wavelength matches yours, besides he has got me hooked on to healthy eating habits etc. I always tell him I am happy that I have you as my first hero.

What is your message for fans?

Thank you for helping me live my dream by loving me so much and giving me the recognition which I have worked so hard for, you all are a mirror for me. Do keep watching my show I need all your love and support, do everything possible in life to make your parents feel proud.
