The much awaited Akshay Kumar film is finally here.Raja Krishna Menon is the director and Akshay ‘Khiladi’ Kumar is doing the lead role in the movie. Well, going by the recent choices of his movies, Airlift is no different from that. Though, the movie is inspired by a Hollywood one, Argo, it has done much better than that.

What The Movie Is All About? The movie is based on the untold story of an invasion of Kuwait. It is about the air evacuation during the Kuwait invasion and the operation was considered to be one of the largest in the world during that time. The movie is all about a single man who tries to make a difference by rescuing a large number of Indians after the Iraq Invasion. The character name of Akshay Kumar is Ranjit Katiyal who is settled for a long time in Kuwait. Suddenly his life took an upside down when Iraqi president ordered the invasion. More than one and a half lakh Indians, including him, left nowhere and the situation started to get worse. Cooperation did not come from India or America. The movie starts with the first day of invasion and the climax ends with the final day. Though the plot is single dimensional, you will enjoy the multiple subplots throughout the movie.

Nimrat Kaur: The Heroine: Nimrat Kaur played the role of heroine with the character name Amrita who was Ranjit’s wife. She did a great justice to her role and was looking extremely beautiful with all the designer Salwar suits. You can also avail Bollywood designer salwar suits online similar to those which are used in this movie.

Thumbs Up Points: Why will you go and watch the movie? Because you will find that director Raja Krishna Menon made an honest effort to provide a documentary drama in the first half. The research team is worth mentioning, where every member have done their work with great details. Starting from the designer clothes to the props, everything reminded us the era of 90s , when the invasion actually happened. The supporting casts did a great job where Prakash Belwadi must be worth mentioning.Nimrat Kaur and Akshay Kumar played their roles with outstanding versatility. The camera work proves to be successful by capturing the landscapes in an extraordinary manner. Luckily, the climax also worked where you can observe the Indian flag with a tearful eyed Akshay Kumar. This can definitely give you goosebumps.

Thumbs Down Points: Sometimes before the interval, you will feel that the movie is getting a bit dragged. This is because some unnecessary songs included before the interval. When you are watching a serious situation where Indians are literally fighting for their lives, suddenly Akshay Kumar starts dancing with a Punjabi song in a celebrating manner. There were also some unnecessary scenes where you will find that temporary camps are set up in schools with random characters. These characters are distracting while creating a parallel storyline.

What To Do? Go watch the movie because it tells you a story which you have not gone through your history books. Watch it because of the honest attempt of the storyline and the subject. Only if the length of the movie can be shortened by providing fewer songs, Airlift could have reached new heights.

It cannot be a super hit movie, but still it is worth watching. Audiences, who are in love with historical period movies, can definitely enjoy the movie. The cast, crew, actors and the supporting actors as well as the director himself has provided a praiseworthy effort to make this film!
