Star Wars Episode VIII starts production!

The Force is strong with this clip… It seems that production is already underway for the next installment in the Star Wars saga!  On February 15, 2016, a post on Facebook by the Star Wars team revealed that “the next chapter of the continuing Star Wars saga, Star Wars: Episode VIII, has begun principal photography at Pinewood Studios in London.”  This is obviously exciting news for fans of the saga.

In addition, the team announced the cast on their official website:

“Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is written and directed by Rian Johnson and continues the storylines introduced in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, welcomes back cast members Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis. New cast members will include Academy Award winner Benicio Del Toro, Academy Award nominee Laura Dern, and talented newcomer Kelly Marie Tran.”

At the end of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, we saw Rey (Daisy Ridley) meet the legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).  The new film will continue where Force Awakens left off and continue Rey’s story.  Of course, even with this short preview from production, there is no doubt fans will already begin coming up with theories for the next film!  We’ll have to wait until December 15, 2017 to find out what happens though!  Until then… may the force be with you.
