T-Series has released the official soundtrack for the upcoming action flick Rocky Handsome. The music has been composed by Sunny Bawra, Inder Bawra, Ankit Tiwari, and Bombay Rockers, with lyrics written by Kumaar, Manoj Muntashir, Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay, Sachin Pathak, Sagar Lahauri and Shekhar Astitwa.
Featuring the Bombay Rockers, the first track, “Rock Tha Party”, begins with a catchy orchestration bit that transitions into an upbeat party beat. We already saw Nora Fatehi rocking out to this pumping club number in the song’s video. In some sections, this track sounds a bit like a Justin Timberlake or Timbaland pop song with a Punjabi flavor.
In contrast to the loudness of “Rock Tha Party” is “Rehnuma”, a haunting tune that will definitely get stuck in your head. While the melody sounds familiar, it is nice to hear Shreya Ghoshal’s voice in a lower octave for a change. The piano and strings orchestration in the middle is beautiful, and this is definitely one of my favorites in this album so far!
Ankit Tiwari is back with “Alfazon Ki Tarah”, yet another soulful track that he has composed and sung. This track may appeal to rock music lovers because of the rock element created by the electric guitar and drums instrumentation.
“Aye Khuda” is soft melodious number rendered by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. This is one of those tracks that contemporary and modern dancers will simply love because of the musical fluctuations and alternation between soft, unplugged melody and intense beats and orchestration. Needless to say, Rahat was a great choice for this song and the duet version with Shreya Ghoshal is equally soulful.
“Titliyan” is a mysterious track that somewhat has the vibe of music from The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. I love the chorus vocal harmonies that come in every now and then, and Sunidhi Chauhan perfectly suited the song. Towards the end, this electronic number gets totally remixed and speeds up to become a full-on party track.
Rocky Handsome is an upcoming action film starring John Abraham and Shruti Haasan in lead roles. Directed by Nishikant Kamat and produced by Sunir Khetrapal and John Abraham, Rocky Handsome releases in theaters on March 25, 2016.
