The SAG Awards has the distinction of being the last major awards show before the Oscars. Voted on by the 165,000 members of the Screen Actors Guild, the awards give us the best insight into who is positioned to take home an Academy Award on February 28th!
But aside from helping us predict who the biggest award winners of the year will be, the SAG Awards give us a final glimpse into who will shine and who will burn out on the red carpet leading up to the big Oscars night.
Below, we bring you the best and worst of the SAG red carpet! Let’s just say that some celebs are on course to stun, while others need to get their fashion game together ASAP!
Swedish beauty Alicia Vikander took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy at the SAG Awards, but she also earned the unofficial title of Best Dressed! As the face of Louis Vuitton, it was a given she would rep the LV label on the red carpet. But we can’t imagine anyone else pulling off this tricky colorblock pattern with half as much elegance!
Sansa Stark is all grown up! Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner rocked the Gothic beauty look in this romantic Carolina Herrera gown. A simple, wavy ponytail kept the teenage beauty looking young, fresh, and classic!
We couldn’t find a single fault in Rachel McAdams’s styling of this gorgeous Elie Saab gown. The Spotlight star kept her hair and makeup simple, letting the gown’s intricate beading and perfect fit speak for itself.
Best Actress contender Saoirse Ronan has been a breath of fresh air on the red carpet throughout this year’s awards season, and her SAG Awards look was no exception. She kept things fuss-free in this pale pink Michael Kors dress, which could have easily aged her had she not absolutely nailed the styling! Light, shimmery makeup and a messy updo added a levity to her look that kept her looking young, fresh, and angelic.
Presenter Eva Longoria added a much-needed dash of sex appeal to the red carpet in this daring Julien Macdonald number. Leaving her underwear at home, Eva opted for nude makeup and a slick center park that let her body do all the talking!
We have no idea what the usually fashion savvy Nicole Kidman was thinking when she chose this frilly, multi-colored Gucci gown, but next time we suggest she leave the gaudy princess dresses to her two young daughters and choose something more sophisticated!
Green typically works well on redheads, but Julianne Moore in this shiny Givenchy confection is an exception to the rule! Neck up, Julianne looks fantastic…it’s a pity her gown is so reminiscent of party streamers!
This is one example of a fashion risk simply not paying off! Priyanka Chopra brought some color the the red carpet, but unfortunately, the silhouette of this Monique Lhuillier gown made the international star look like an extra from a tacky 1980’s prom scene.
Game of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie is the definition of statuesque, so we wonder what inspired her to choose this ill-fitting, wrinkled Lanvin gown. We have to say, that’s one extremely expensive silk sack!
‘Bizarre’ is the only word that comes to mind when looking at this Armani Prive gown on American Horror Story star Sarah Paulson. We’re reminded of the Unconventional Materials Challenges on Project Runway…and not in a good way!
