Kalki Koechlin: The Printing Machine

It is only irony that I am writing about The Printing Machine on a media platform.

Kalki Koechlin a divine actress, and a lady who has always utilized her voice for the better.

It’s not easy to voice it all at once, but this satirical poem by Kalki only speaks a portion of the truth. The truth about India through pure criticism. A culture which is depreciating and going morally numb, every time another newspaper is printed. The stinging robotic poem The Printing Machine is not a platform to gain likes by awareness.

Isn’t that what we are all trying to do? Trying to create awareness? What is different in this clip though is that she is stating the reality in five-minutes and muting down the entertainment level of a two-and-half hour film.

This video may be demeaning to media platforms like social media, newspapers, and magazines– but it only displays the stigmatic problem a single country is facing on an everyday basis. Bad news gets masked with pretty women on fashion magazines. Indecent words are used to catch juicy headlines.

The Printing Machine is written and performed by Kalki Koechlin in association with Unblushed. Produced by Culture Machine and directed by Akanksha Seda.
