Top 10 FLOPS of 2015!

2015 had a handful of good, quality films…but unfortunately there were numerous films which just did not work at all. It’s sad that there were so many, and I am having to narrow it down to the top 10 flops of 2015!

1. Roy

For a die hard Ranbir Kapoor fan, it was painful to watch him in a ‘dynamic role’… which I am not sure what that even means. His talented co-stars Jaqueline Fernandez and Arjun Rampal only made the film boring and exhausting to watch. You feel the director is going to have this epic ending, but by the end you are ready to get out of your seat and take a long nap. The only thing that had me still in the cinema hall was the amazing music which happens to be quite popular this year, but not so much the film itself.

2. Kisk Kisko Pyar Karoon

I’m an avid viewer of Comedy Nights with Kapil on Sunday nights. I was super excited to see Kapil Sharma debut in his first film…only until I kept watching, and watching…and kept looking over at my movie partner and said, “what are we watching?” Kapil is such a talented artist and he was placed in the wrong type of film for his first. Again, very disappointing.

3. Brothers

Another film where I constantly felt restless. The director of Agneepath, Karan Malhotra created his worst film ever. Cheesy dialogues, elongated scenes and moments and a dragged story. All surrounding a sport like boxing put a disgrace to such a sport, especially after seeing a film like Mary Kom. Great talent went to waste once again as Akshay Kumar, Siddharth Malhotra and Jaqueline Fernandez are all outstanding actors who put a stake in their career with this film.

4. Shaandaar

While I personally enjoyed this film, it was only because I had a hard day that day and needed to watch something mindless. But on a whole… Shaandaar was a mess. Just like the track, Raita Phail Gaya which entirely describes the film in one song. Using some of the best The cheesiness was over the top. What was sad was the makers behind this film. Dharma Productions, Phantom Films, and the director of QueenVikas Bhel. In addition the actors, Alia Bhatt, Shahid Kapoor, Pankaj Kapur and many other great talents… all wasted.

5.  Dum Laga Ke Haisha

Yash Raj Film starring the adorable Ayshman Khurrana tried his best to avoid the unattractive girl he ended up marrying, while he should have just avoided the entire film on a whole. Great topic, great story, but executed poorly. The competition which occurred towards the end of the film only topped it off by making it even worse and out of place. Only thing I liked about this film was the song, Moh Moh Ke Dhaage.

6. Guddu Rangeela

A film which could have had potential as it had great actors like Arshad Warsi, Amit Sadh, and Aditi Rao Hydari. The comedy film was not so comical, and just plain out dumb. The comedy film involved gangsters between two rich families and kidnapping ‘baby’ played by Aditi who pretends to be mute, and ends up conning both Arshad and Amit instead. And like always this ends up being a love story of some sort where both Aditi and Amit find a liking for one another. The only part of this film I enjoyed was the song Sooiyan which was quite out of place from the film, but it’s an Arijit Singh track and visually appealing.

7. Singh Is Bliing

The low IQ, jokes, and scenes are so exhausting to watch. This is a low rent comedy film and it doesn’t even matter to the actors, that’s how sad the film is. The film is parallel similarly to Singh Is King, but taken to a whole other level of bad comedy. Again like Singh is King, this one stars Akshay Kumar…but It’s intolerable, and something great to watch if you need to take a nap for three hours…

8. All Is Well

Abhishek Bachchan at one point was a great actor, but his offerings and accepting of films has simple degraded. Nothing was well about this film frankly. It was terrible. The film also stars Rishi Kapoor who owns a bakery, but bakes less and yells more at his wife Supriya Pathak and son Abhishek. There isn’t much backbone to this film.. it’s a whole bunch of nonsense and waste of time.

9. I Love NY

Rumors say that Kangana didn’t want this film to release. That’s all wrong since it did, and well she was the only reason one could keep watching the film. I’d say this film has trial and error of mocking a typical rom-com Hollywood Holiday film. But Indianized and wasn’t too successful. After all watching Sunny Deol getting over a ten-year divorce and then popping the question years later on New Years Eve, or so he attempts to do so. He somehow lands in New York and meets Kangana and then from here on is the trial of being like a Hollywood film. It wasn’t a success and while this film was made awhile back, and now just got released… the timing is a bit off. Therefore it didn’t really work.

10. Alone

The ‘horrex’ (horror-sex) Thai Horror film remake. I personally love horror films, but this was just a mess of a bad story. When you think you’ve seen a lot of silliness on-screen, You’re told to believe in ‘suspension of disbelief’ and you’re, like okay, I’ll try, and then comes a ghost who personifies ‘true love’ and can make love as if the thirst will never be quenched… interesting intake I guess, but it didn’t work for me.
