Can’t find an evergreen tree? No problem! Indians being the kings and queens of ‘jugad‘ (quick fix) are able to take anything and turn in into a Christmas tree.
In South India, where banana trees and coconut trees are most prominent, Christians use them in the place of fur, pine and spruce trees used in Europe and America. Considering the size of these trees, they are not chopped down and brought inside the home but rather kept in the garden and decorated for all to enjoy. No killing trees and more importantly, no cleaning up afterwards.
Now that is what you call an environment friendly Christmas!
