Talking about his first film being selected at TIFF, Ishaan says,

“After a five year journey with Kaash, being selected at Tokyo international film festival is validation that the quality of  the film is intact and I am very happy about that.”

The film will see a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Mira Nair, Irrfan Khan, and Sailesh Singh. Talking about her association with Kaash, Mira Nair says,

“Ishaan Nair has a sure voice and a deeply sensual eye, I knew he would make a superbly confident first feature film. What an honor for Kaash to be invited in competition in a major film festival like Tokyo.”

With few of the best industry and international talents coming together, Ishaan Nair’s Kaash has a lot of curiosity generated around it. The film stars newcomers Varun Mitra, Nidhi Sunil, and Kavya Trehan in the lead roles, the film also features Kalki Koechlin in a special role.

‘Kaash’ explores the endless heartbreaking possibilities of chance, “if only”. Frustrated with his dwindling relationship, Aadil – a dreamy young photographer – spontaneously sets off to meet a girl he has connected with over the vast universe of the Internet. The journey from Bombay to Gujarat opens a chasm within him. Whether by cosmic forces or his own pattern, the ‘internet’ girl, Khushali, triggers intimate memories of his girlfriend Samira – a Bollywood starlet on the rise. Away from the urban dystopia of Bombay, he falls into Khushali’s simple world of earthly delights. In her, he finds strains of Samira, as she was and as she has become. Tormented between the past and the present, ‘Kaash’ is the beautifully crafted journey of a boy exploring love, himself, and the endless possibilities of “if only”.
