What happens when sports and showbiz come together? A mega event with all eyes on it!
The first edition of Pakistan’s biggest cricket tournament, Pakistan Super League (PSL), was announced to be taking place in Doha, Qatar. The mega tournament is not just going to be about cricket, but it is, in fact, going to blend sports with entertainment. Pakistan’s top celebrities will take on roles of ambassadors of each of the five teams that are to participate in the tournament.
Pakistan has never seen something as big as this tournament, with the best of both sports and entertainment worlds coming together on one platform. Glamour was hitherto unheard of in cricket or sports generally after the 90s, but PSL vows to engage with the topmost celebrities in the country from the worlds of fashion, music, and films to make it the biggest sporting event in the history of the country!
We’ve seen the biggest Bollywood celebrities, including Shahrukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Shilpa Shetty, owning cricket teams in the hugely popular Indian Premiere League for years. Now, it remains to be seen who will be the SRK, Shilpa, and Preity of Pakistan and step up to be faces of the teams participating in the PSL tournament. What will make it a magnanimous event is participation of 40 top international players (except for Indian cricketers) who have agreed to be part of this mega event. The collective prize money is up to $1 million.
Pakistan Cricket Board has taken it upon itself to bring to crazy cricket fans the biggest and the best in sports. The board’s #CricketComesHome tournament with Zimbabwe this year was a big hit, and this time the PSL promises to be bigger and better!
The tournament will be officially launched in the third week of September, when the board plans to unveil the official logo and invite potential celebrity team ambassadors who will be part of the Pakistan Super League. This one is definitely something to look forward to for fans of both cricket and the celebrities!
