Bollywood Fashion Featured Lifestyle What's Happenin'

Get ready to be styled by Eshaa Amiin!

When it comes to fashion for Bollywood actors and actresses it’s not such an easy job finding out what they need to wear on the set, in the film or even at promotional tours when promoting the film or music launch. Well designers and stylist are here to rescue those gorgeous actors and actresses which we adore. One stylist we spoke with has worked with many actors in Tinsel town and recently worked on Akshay Kumar upcoming film ‘Singh is Bliing.

After gaining experience she made a humble start and has come a long way exploring fashion from styling campaigns and TVCs for many fashion & lifestyle brands (apparel, footwear, eyewear, jewelry, watches etc), magazines such as Filmfare, Forbes, Mandate, The Man and also works as a fashion stylist to Bollywood stars (Karishma Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshay Kumar, Lara Dutta, Amy Jackson, Varun Dhawan, to name a few more, Madhuri Dixit, Huma Qureshi, Sania Mirze etc.) to red carpets, editorials like Femina, Stardust, Exhibit, Stuff, Good Housekeeping etc. Her strength is in her sartorial sense of style, ability to bring in a unique perspective to commercial fashion by effortlessly fusing it with unconventional styling and her experience of working with the best in the business. Not to mention the designer in her can fearlessly cut, sew, drape instantly if needed hence giving her an edge.

In November 2014 the company expanded by launching Eshaa Amiin label a niche women’s western wear clothing line. The label is currently selling in multi designer stores and online portals across the country and many actors like Karisma Kapoor ,Malaika Arora,Ileana D Cruz , Huma Qureshi, Nimrat Kaur, Kiara Advani have been spotted wearing her designs and even Tennis Player Sania Mirza!

We had a chance to speak with Eshaa about her work and her lifestyle and her new label  and working with Akshay Kumar! See what she had to say – this fashionista is going international!

unnamedWhat made you want to become a stylist?

After graduating from NIFT I worked as a designer with a European Fashion house I kept researching into forecast on global fashion trend. I travelled a bit to Europe on presentations and did many projects in the Fashion World and the exposure got me interested into styling  and slowly I diverted  into it.

What is your favorite part about being a stylist?

No two days are the same ,each day each shoot has something new to offer and look forward to .it keeps me excited as a child

If you were to re-design a wardrobe for any past Bollywood movie, which one would it be and why?

Mr India, it was one of my favourite Bollywood films as a child as  I loved Sridevi and Anil Kapoor in it and the film itself. In every way and it’s only for how amazing it was that I would love to redesign the wardrobe for it or may be let’s say if they plan a sequel to it I would love to style it!

You have worked on Akshay Kumar’s upcoming film – how was it like working with him and how did you craft the style for the film when it came to wardrobe for him?

Akshay sir is brilliant to work with ,in spite of being a superstar he is extremely sweet and co-operative. I really look up to him and I have learnt a lot from him. For his look for the film I kept in mind that he has played a Sardar before so I had to try something new and different yet keep it in character and upbeat in terms of style. Akshay Kumar sir, Ashvini and  Prabhu sir’s inputs at every stage have helped me think and do better and eventually it all turned out to be satisfying  – be it his cool rural Indian- wear or the effortless western casual!  Akshay sir worked it all fabulously! I feel very fortunate to have worked on this film it’s been a fun experience.

Did you ever think you would become a stylist and if you weren’t one what would you be doing?

I didn’t always dream of being a stylist it happened gradually after a number of small projects  but if I wasn’t a stylist or a designer I would probably be a dance teacher. I love dancing be it Bharatnatyam, Salsa, Belly Dance or my current favourite aerial silk  🙂
