Imran Khan ‘enjoys’ Ali Zafar’s ‘Rockstar’

As soon as Ali Zafar’s song for Coke Studio, ‘Rockstar’, aired this Sunday, appreciations and applause have been pouring in non-stop. Ali’s loyal fans as well as anyone with even a slight interest in music have loved the song for its tongue-in-cheek lyrics and edgy, fresh and rock tune.

The illustrious list of the song’s fans boasting names such as Mahira Khan, Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan, one of the most popular young directors in India, Abhishek Kapoor and singer Adnan Sami has a new entrant: None other than star politician and former cricketer Imran Khan.

The chairman of PTI shared on Twitter how he enjoyed Ali’s Rockstar.

“Enjoyed Ali Zafar’s ‘Rockstar’. He is one of the biggest supporters of SKMT,”

tweeted Khan. This is the first time a Pakistani politician has openly showed his/her love and appreciation for art and music on social media. Khan who is equally popular among the youth as is with the older generation has sent out a message through his tweet to rest of the politicians that they too can encourage and appreciate artists openly who are the country’s pride.

Normally, one sees only political tweets and social media updates from politicians. However, our artist community overall needs their support the most as the government needs to back artists of all categories, be it singers, actors, painters or anyone, as they have not received their share of appreciation and support from those at the helm of affairs as have their peers in other countries.

Rockstar’ has been making waves everywhere from social media, radio to TV and Ali’s fans from across the border have also expressed their love for it.
