One thing that Indians and Pakistanis who live around the world hope for is peace between India and Pakistan. When the British created the partition, it is sad that it really created a division from people who used to be one. Today, August 14th, marks Pakistani Independence day, while August 15th, marks Indian Independence Day. During this time lets all pray that the two nations will find peace. Last year, the band Maati Baani released a song called “Rang Rangiya – Maati Baani Ft. Komal Rizvi “ to promote peace between the two nations. Maati Baani literally means “The Language of The Earth”. The lyrics reflect this notion and the song aims to promote peace and unity .
The artists introduce their video on YouTube saying, “Real freedom is when the mind is free from feelings of hatred, greed and vengeance. We present to you ‘ Rang Rangiya’ – a heart felt song of Love and Friendship. How many innocent lives have been lost in the wars? How many children today are living in the shadow of fear? Love is our true nature but when greed and hatred overpowers the mind, wars happen. Countries consists of people and when people are friends how can there be wars? It’s the time when each individual rises up to say No to War because we have waited long enough….”
