Continuing with his design story, ‘Age Of Consent’ from Spring/Summer 2015, Alan Alexander Kaleekal put forth an absolutely fresh array of garments for women. They brought into play, naive adaptation of Indian couture into mod silhouettes at Jabong Stage during Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2015. Gender fluidity and sexual undertones was the understated theme.
Keeping Indian heritage and textiles in mind, Alan worked solely with handloom fabrics. The entire line was sewn with handwoven textiles hailing from natural fibres. The designer in Alan took innovation to a new level by creating custom fabrics like satin cotton, double threaded zari, khadi denim, etc.
Alan enthralled the audience with his bold, edgy cuts and strong contours. The monochromatic collection comprised collared, asymmetric, calf length, loose fitted garments. Tantalizing side slits and flowing drapes were observed throughout his show.
Keeping minimal embellishments, the stage echoed with a thunderous applause when the ace designer showcased an oxblood blazer-cut dress paired with a charcoal vest. Another eye-catching ensemble was an oxblood peplum top teamed with body-con pants of the same hue.
Minimal in detail and functionality, Alan Alexander Kaleekal stunned the audience with his collection “Age of Consent”, which featured stylish unconventional garments that questioned propriety and norms. It was a truly liberating show.
