Cinema since the beginning has always been about entertaining everyone. Directors and writers view it as a medium to educate the audience. Each and every year there are films that release and take them through different stories which leave the audience speechless.
Saavi – A Bonded Bride a film by national award winning director Rajeev Kumar. The film is based on a sensitive issue of the barter system of women. What is so interesting though is that this is the first time in B-town where a film is showcasing an unusual married couple. An 18 year old girl is being forced to marry a 4 year old child.
According to our sources, the makers of the film are keen to bring the issue to the silver screen. Saavi is based on the individual behavior of people stuck on the colonial era state of mind. The producers are hoping to have an everlasting effect on the minds of people with this film and are aiming to change the way people perceive the ways of life.
Saavi also displays that medieval ideologies still exist in India, and how blind faith embellished with hierarchical practices still have a way of running in the nation. Objectifying women has been going on for centuries int he country and the film covers how even during the wake of education we are still tied down by our blind ancestral ideologies.
