It came as a shocker for countless people when Salman Khan was convicted on the 2002 hit-and-run case. The superstar actor was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder. He has been sentenced to five years in jail. He could have faced up to ten years. Khan claimed that his driver was behind the wheel, but Judge D.W. Deshpande said, “You were driving the car; you were under the influence of alcohol,” as soon as the court proceedings began. Reportedly, the actor broke down as the guilty verdict was announced.
Khan and his legal team are applying for bail in High Court. They will appeal for bail in front of Justice Thipsay.
