What's love got to do with it

If you have not found yourself the perfect life partner by then, your ‘biodata‘ begins circulating within your community in search of a prospective marriage proposal. Rohena Gera’s documentary, ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?’ digs deep to the billion dollar marriage industry to find that marriage these days is neither arranged nor brought forth by love, but is more likely to be coerced by parents and friends.

Gera’s candid approach on the subject is not only witty and humorous but refreshingly eye opening. Through the course of the documentary, Gera interviews a handful of class privileged Indians who are bound by the pressure of arranged marriage. With the dos and do nots of arranged marriage clearly outlined for them, these eight individual are trapped within the vicious cycle societal pressure and parental coercion. While some give in to the demands of society, others seek to break the chains of the social pressure.

With every passing minute, a new revelation unfolds speaking directly to the audience. Whether you are new to the concept or have been raised with it, the manner in which arranged marriage is presented by Gera will leave you stunned.

After a jam packed opening at the Mumbai Film Festival, ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It?‘ makes its way to the American shores. The documentary is being screened at various locations in New York, New Jersey, Texas, California and Connecticut this summer.
