This May get ready to jam once again in Toronto as another major line up is about to rock the stage! Artist line up announced for 9th annual desiFEST, presented by TD at Yonge Dundas Square on Saturday, May 30, 2015 desiFEST, North America’s largest outdoor South Asian urban music concert has announc ed it’s star-studded line up for their 9th annual concert taking place on May 30th. Upcoming and established artists from Canada, the US, UK and India aspire to perform on this stage in front of over 40,000 eager Canadian fans.
This year’s line up includes a heavy focus on new artists to showcase the growing Canadian talent pool, along with a range of internationally renowned artists. Among the 30+ performers at desiFEST this year are some amazing Canadian talents including Montreal’s very own Master-D. As he embarks on his new solo journey from the international pop group the Bilz & Kashif, this producer and artist has been making waves across radio stations worldwide as he revolutionizes Bangla music with his signature sound.
Other Canadian acts include hard-hitting Hindi rapper The Gunsmith , rising star in the bhangra industry–Punjabi singer Raj Fidda , and Pakistani artist Raheel Zaman .English/ Punjabi hip-hop artist Fateh DOE has revamped the look and sound of Punjabi music and rap with his ability to seamlessly blend English and Punjabi vocals.
Having performed alongside artists such as Gippy Grewal, Amrinder Gill and Jazzy B, his unique sound has garnered him fans and admiration from around the world. desiFEST also welcomes the fresh new sound of Lady Pista, an emerging singer-dj-producer who combines a unique blend of musical styles, ranging from dancehall and pop to hard hitting ethnic drum beats. Toronto’s original South Asian sound crew, Empire Entertainment will treat music lovers to a live segment, as they spin the latest in desi urban and bhangra tunes. And as a special sneak preview of what they’ll have in store, the DJs at Empire will be releasing an exclusive desiFEST promo mix tape which will be available for digital download in the weeks leading up to the main event. This year’s line-up also features British Singer, songwriter & producer Zack Knight who has written music for household names such as Tinie Tempah and Ginuwine. Knight has also performed on stage with artists such as Taio Cruz, Mario and Jessie J, and his R&B crossover sound has earned him thousands of fans worldwide.
The evening will come to a close with none other than Indo-American heartthrob Mickey Singh , whose tender voice has mesmerized the urban desi fusion scene. His unique blend of east meets west sounds come to life with his high-energy performance on stage to keep the crowd on their feet.
