Brooklyn Shanti unleashes Bedstuyle Remixed!

When Nathan Laskar released his 2014 album, Bedstuyle, under hist stage name, Brooklyn Shanti, he intended to bring together disparate artists, genres and music fans. Taking this approach landed Laskar a TED talk, an invitation to present the album’s breakout collaboration, “Something Beautiful” with Bollywood starlet, Evelyn Sharma to the press and public in Mumbai at the top of the year, and found him seated on multiple panels and in showcases during SXSW 2015. Taking a lead from its predecessor, Bedstuyle Remixed blends multiple musical styles throughout its playlist.

Enlisting top producers from genres as varied as trapwave innovator, DGYGZR, to famed Bollywood A.R. Rahman protégé, AKS, deep house maestro, Thomas Blondet, to Burning Man staples, Subatomica, Dubvirus and v:shal Kanwar – Brooklyn Shanti presents his next installment in a series of what Entertainment Weekly has cited as,

“…a mission to unite hip-hop, dance music, and a patchwork of styles from across the globe.”

Bedstuyle Remixed includes two new singles including, “A Great Night”, featuring Brooklyn Gypsies vocalist, Tina Kristina and Sierra Leone pop star, Bajah of the Dry Eye Crew. “Mumtaz”, the album’s lead single (produced by Mr. Jennings), is an acoustic guitar laced crunk hip-hop dedication to the woman who inspired the building of the Taj Mahal.

Lyrically, Laskar rhymes from the perspective of a reincarnated version of Shah Jahan. The video was filmed during a performance with world-renowned producer, Karsh Kale, during one of their many appearances together at Brooklyn’s BK Bowl.
