Bombay Velvet, which was well received by the film fraternity, opened to a disastrous first weekend at the box office. Expected to be the year’s biggest blockbuster, the film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Karan Johar, was made on an enormous budget.
As a result of the poor box office records, Anurag Kashyap received major back lash from members of the film fraternity including Ram Gopal Verma and Milap Zaveri as well as the audience. Despite the rejection, Anurag Kashyap remains positive. The director took it to the social networking site Facebook to express his appreciation for the team of Bombay Velvet and his well wishers.
“Bombay Velvet has been worth the heartache, pain and will be a memory to cherish for life. I love you all so much and I also feel your love. Let my silence not worry any of you.”
