Bollywood director, writer and producer, Vidhu Vinod Chopra has turned his talents towards Hollywood with his latest project, Broken Horses. Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been very busy, pouring his heart and soul into this project and we can’t wait to see what magic he creates! Q: What was it about ‘Broken Horses’ that caught your attention?
María Valverde: The script. When I started reading it I couldn’t stop. I loved every single sentence and every single scene.I also loved the fact that it has darkness to it. It’s not all just happiness and joy; it shows real decisions and real consequences.
Q: Did you enjoy working with your co-stars?
María Valverde: Absolutely loved it! Everyone has very nice and friendly. I was afraid there might be some issues because every single one of us is so different but we’ve got on great.
Q: Do you have a role model?
María Valverde: I have to say it is Kate Winslet. She is absolutely amazing, as a woman and as an actress. I want to be just like her. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is one of my favourite films
Q: What type of films would to like to do in the future?
María Valverde: I would like to do more English films, I know that I will always be the ‘Latin girl’, but I think I am ready for Hollywood.
Q: What do you usually do when you’re back home, in Madrid?
María Valverde: I absolutely love Madrid! If I will ever have to move – it will be for work. Madrid is my city, my home. I love hanging out with my family and friends, just the usual stuff.
Along with the lovely Maria, Anton Yelchin also plays a leading role in Broken Horses. Anton is an actor and a musician, get to know a little more about this multi-talented star.
Q: You’re not just a great actor, but a musician too. Tell us about it.
Anton Yelchin: Oh it’s just a hobby for me. I always loved playing my guitar and making music, I even had a punk band with my friends. I feel like nowadays people just call themselves musicians even though they’re really not.
Q: What inspired you to be an actor?
Anton Yelchin: Both of my parents are athletes and I wasn’t very good at it. Then I wanted to be a scientist but that didn’t work because I set our bathroom on fire, then I wanted to be a basketball player but im not very tall so that didn’t work out too. Finally my parents took me to acting class and even though I was really shy at first, I loved every single minute of being there.

Q: You have played a lot of big and recognizable roles. Do you think people get intimidated when they see you?
Vincent D’Onofrio: I don’t think they’re intimidated. Usually they get really excited – they ask for an autograph or to take a picture. And it’s exciting for me too.
Q: How hard is it for you to transform into yourself after acting?
Vincent D’Onofrio: Straight after the director says ‘cut’ I try to turn into myself. I think as get more experienced, it becomes easier and easier to leave work behind.
Q: How do you pick a particular role?
Vincent D’Onofrio:I always pick a role that scares me the most – of course, you have to like the story too, but I would never choose a role that doesn’t instill some kind of fear in me. If I’m reading the script and I start thinking that I might not be able to do it, then I will definitely go for it.
Q: What is your key to success as an actor?
Vincent D’Onofrio: I don’t think I have a ‘key to success’ – there’s nothing that I know that other actors don’t know. The only thing that separates us is experience.
Q: You have a lot of fans all around the world – Does their reaction or projections get to your head?
Vincent D’Onofrio: I absolutely love it. It’s just like the feeling you get when you’re in a play and you can feel the audience even before you stepped on the stage for the first time. It’s quite something.
