Those of us in the United States may be living away from India, but the spirit of Bollywood still lives strong in each of us. So, when the World’s biggest dance academy, SHIAMAK (owned by renowned choreographer Shiamak Davar), decided to open classes in the US, it of course was met with an overwhelming response! Classes have been running successfully in New York and New Jersey. After conducting a workshop at Tampa Bay, Florida the team is ready to introduce dance enthusiasts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to their famous Bollywood moves. So, be sure to add some dance to your world this Holi!
Celebrating the festival of colors, Holi, dancers will get a chance to experience Shiamak’s Bollywood Jazz to popular Bollywood music. Students will get an opportunity to learn from his expert faculty that has trained the biggest stars in India such as the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and many others. Holi, one of the most popular celebrations amongst South Asians globally, has many popular Bollywood songs exclusively dedicated to the festival. This two day workshop being held in Pittsburg on March 7 – 8 will make these colors come alive through dance, fun and festivities.
Senior instructor, Bhuvan Sharma who danced as a soloist with actress Sonakshi Sinha at the IIFA Awards (Tampa Bay, 2013) will be spearheading the workshop. With over ten years of experience teaching students across India and UAE, Sharma is now spreading the joy of dance in the USA. With the motto “Have Feet. Will Dance.”™, this workshop takes the Founder- Artistic Director, Shiamak Davar’s mission to one more destination. Speaking about the workshop he said,
“Holi is the perfect festival to introduce Bollywood Jazz in Pittsburgh. This will be an opportunity for people to connect to their roots and feel at home, and of course for the majority to experience the Indian carnival of colors!’’
SHIAMAK Bollywood Workshop is taking place in association with Ritu Vaidya, who has been a dance enthusiast herself since joining SHIAMAK Dance Academy in Mumbai, India a decade ago. The SHIAMAK Dance Academy has trained Bollywood royalty from Shahid Kapoor and Varun Dhawan, to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonakshi Sinha, amongst many others faces and names.
