The Mercedez-Benz 2015 Fashion Week in New York city is in full swing with fashionista’s roaming the streets for a glimpse of the glamor. Sadly for Oscar de la Renta fans, this is the first fashion week of the company without the iconic designer. Oscar de la Renta passed away late 2014 and Peter Copping has take over as the creative director of the company. It was a lovely tribute to Oscar de la Renta as fans, family members and friends all came out to show support for the beloved designer.
The show was however a stressful time for Peter Copping as the crowd looked to him to carry on the legend of their favorite designer and friend. Copping created 55 looks for the show all of which was a tribute to Oscar de la Renta’s classic designs.
The show started with a black cashmere coat with jet black embroidery and led on to other Oscar de la Renta signature looks like multi-striped tweed jackets and skirts, gorgeous fur coats, and how could not include some giant tulle and organza gowns. Copping added a personal touch with a white folder at each seat that included a letter from him, the letter said:
“I am immensely proud to have been chosen as the Creative Director of Oscar de la Renta. Unfortunately things did not go according to our plans and I never had the chance to work with Oscar, which is something that I deeply regret. In this, my first collection, I hope to honor Oscar’s legacy and also start a new chapter for the house.”
We think Peter Copping is off to a wonderful start, the show was filled with beauty and old-school glamor, just like the late Oscar de la Renta’s style. Copping added his flavor but stayed true to the company’s reputation and we’re loving it! The stars and de la Renta family members in attendance also had only wonderful things to say.
We’re hoping Copping will take the brand to newer heights, we can’t wait to see what he has planned!
