Shweta Subram to debut as a playback singer in Bollywood!

For anyone who has been following Shweta Subram’s career here on Urban Asian, the news I’m about to share shouldn’t come as a surprise.  After all, Shweta is the recipient of multiple awards including the North American Best Singer award from Sangam Kala Group and Best Singer Award from Shankar Mahadevan Academy’s talent hunt. Additionally, Shweta impressed audiences when she performed with Salim-Sulaiman at the IIFA Awards in 2011.  That was the praise she’s gotten at just the start of her career.  Not to mention, she has since done collaborations with established stars like Shankar Tucker as well as with the highly acclaimed band, The Piano Guys.  Her tracks to date have been well received by audiences.  Fans have been hoping for her Bollywood entry for a while, and now, she is ready to do just that!  Shweta will be featuring on the song, Dil-e-Nadaan, which she sings alongside the talented actor-singer-host, Ayushmann Khurrana (of Vicky Donor fame).  Dil-e-Nadaan is the title song for the upcoming movie, Hawaizaada, starring Ayushmann himself, Mithun Chakraborty, and Pallavi Sharda. The soundtrack has been released by T-Series.

Dil-E-Nadaan is beautifully programmed and arranged by Bharat Goel of Global Labs who is an immensely talented producer.  Regarding working with the talent, Shweta says “It is always so much fun working with him and I look forward to many more.”

Dil-e-Nadaan is a modern adaptation of the popular ghazal by iconic poet Mirza Ghalib. The song is mellifluously rendered and seamlessly incorporates itself in Hawaizaada’s storyline amongst breathtaking cinematography. The film brings forth the inspiring story of Shivkar Talpade, a man who is believed to have flown the first unmanned aircraft eight years before the Wright Brothers. This is directed by Vibhu Puri and celebrates the spirit of ‘Make in India’.  Produced by Vishal Gurnani, Rajesh Banga and Reliance Entertainment, the film is scheduled to hit the theaters on January 30, 2015.

A huge congratulations to Shweta on her big Bollywood debut!  Check out the track and share your opinion on it!
