1) The Hunger Games movies are based on a worldwide best-selling trilogy of novels by Suzanne Collins consisting of Hunger Games (2008), Catching Fire (2009) and Mockingjay (2010). The first book in the trilogy, Hunger Games first released in September 2008, after an initial print of 200,000 had sold 800,000 copies by February 2010. Since its release, the book has been translated into 26 languages and publishing rights sold in 38 territories. It remained the number one bestseller in USA Today, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and many other polls and publications.

By the time the first film on the series was released in 2012, the publisher had claimed to have sold 26 million copies of the trilogy. In August 2012, the series ranked second after Harry Potter in a poll of top 100 teen novels. The trilogy also became Amazon’s top seller in 2012, surpassing the record previously held by the Harry Potter series. As of 2014, the series has sold more than 65 million copies in the US alone. Moreover, it has been sold into 56 territories in 51 languages so far.

2) The first film from the trilogy, Hunger Games, was a huge box office success in 2012, grossing over $691 million worldwide and becoming the third highest grossing film in the US and ninth worldwide. Also, in North America, it was the highest grossing film released outside the summer or holiday period.

The second film in the series, Hunger Games: Catching Fire, was the highest-grossing film at the North American box office in 2013 and the fifth highest-grossing worldwide the same year.

So, the third part of the franchise, Mockingjay, becomes all the more interesting for what it has to offer and what records it’s going to break. It’ll be worth the wait!

3) The third and the very obvious reason to watch Mockingjay Part 1 is its lead actress, the Oscar-winning Jennifer Lawrence. In 2012, Jennifer became the second youngest actress to receive Best Actress Oscar nomination for her film Winter’s Bone. In 2012, she received several awards for her lead performance in The Silver Lining’s Playbook, including the Golden Globe and the Oscar, making her the second youngest actress to win an Oscar in this category.

She earned a lot of laurels and awards for her supporting role in The American Hustle in 2013, including the Golden Globe and BAFTA. In 2012, she attained international recognition for her leading role in The Hunger Games film series, making her as the highest-grossing action heroine of all time.

In the first film of the last Hunger Games series, Mockingjay Part 1, Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen, a 17-year-old from District 12 and victor of the 74th Hunger Games. She becomes a reluctant hero and a symbol of hope for the nation after escaping the third Quarter Quell in previous serious, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

This film will be released in Pakistan by HKC Entertainment.
