The British Asian Industry unites for Brit-Asia TV's Music Awards 2014!

New talent, established names and legends united for the 2014 Brit Asia Music Awards at the NIA in Birmingham on Saturday October 4. The most definitive British Asian music award ceremony in the calendar honored the best music talent, delivered world-class live performances and had big named celebrities were in attendance.

Established names who have been powering Asian music for the past two decades and rising stars currently lighting up the industry shared the awards. Winners included Jazzy B (Best Male Act), Partners in Rhyme (Best Asian Music Producer), Satinder Sartaaj (Best Songwriter), Diljit Dosanjh (Best International Act), Bloodline (Best Newcomer), AJD (Best Club DJ), Kanika Kapoor (Best Female Act), Raxstar (Best Urban Asian Act) and Jaz Dhami who won Best Single for his hit single “Zulfa.”

Popular bhangra band B21 continued their impressive comeback by winning the award for Best Album. RDB featuring T-Pain won Best Music Video for “Daddy Da Cash,” Manj musik and Raftaar won Best Urban Single for “Swag Mera Desi.” Other winners were Mumzy Stranger (Best ‘Non-Asian Music’ Producer) and The Legends Band (Best Live Band).

Apache Indian, who is celebrating 25 years in the music industry, delivered an electrifying performance and was given a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award. Other live performances included The Legends Band teaming up with Saini Surinder and Jay Status, and a grand finale that saw Raxstar, Roach Killa, Humble The Poet, Manj musik and Raftaar taking the stage together. Jaz Bal, CEO of Brit Asia TV, who masterminds the annual ceremony thinks the UK music industry is strong. He said,

“The sheer variety of nominees at this year’s ceremony showed that this is an exciting time in British Asian music. The combination of established names and new talent is a sign of great things to come. Brit Asia TV will be there every step of the way to support the collective talent.”

The event, which was hosted by radio duo Sunny & Shay and popular television presenter Sukhi Bart, will be broadcast on Brit Asia TV later this year. Check out the winners list!
