Ronak is an Indian American Producer and DJ from Columbus, Ohio. We previously featured his remix, “Indian Flute Loko,” which exploded onto the EDM scene, eventually leading to LooKas himself endorsing it. He’s back with two brand new remixes!
We had some time to catch up with Ronak and he gave us some insight on what his influences are and why he makes music. Here’s what he had to say below.
“One of my motivations for making music is to open people up to different sounds and cultures here in the states. Specifically, I feel like there is a void in today’s electronic dance music that incorporates Eastern instruments and rhythms. Growing up my friends would put me onto early records from like The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Moby, Daft Punk etc… whereas my folks would be blasting classic Bollywood records & Hindu bhajans (It made for some really bizarre Friday nights). Some of the stuff I have been into as of late has been from DJ / Producers who bring world influences into their productions… Switch, the whole Mad Decent Crew, TropKillaz, etc. At the end of the day if I am remembered as being the guy who helped bring the Eastern sound to EDM, I will die in a happy curry bliss (…I should really leave those jokes at home)” – Ronak.
