A couple months back, Urban Asian was one of the first sites to break to you the news that Maz – one of the members of the duo Bonafide – was gearing up for a solo debut. Since the news broke, fans have been eagerly awaiting the full track of Maz‘ solo debut, “Jaan“! I am happy to share that it is officially out now and you won’t be disappointed! There has been much buzz for the track, so it is no surprise that ‘Jaan‘ by Maz Bonafide broke records by becoming the first song to reach number one in the iTunes World Music Chart three weeks before its release date purely based on pre-orders!
‘Jaan‘ is a beautiful, romantic, Bollywood inspired track that was written and composed by Maz himself. Love songs tend to connect with audiences, and based on the response for this track, it really looks set to be one of the biggest love songs of 2014! Maz, as one half the popular act Bonafide, experienced much success with his lifelong singing partner Ziggy and produced a number of super-hits over the years including of ‘Feel It Sohniye’, ‘Ishq Hogaya’, ‘Only One’, ‘Mahi Ve’ and ‘Galay Lag Ja’. Based on this first solo release, it seems like his solo career will also reach those same heights!
‘Jaan‘ highlights Maz’s versatility, range and ability to switch from one genre to another effortlessly! The accompanying video further enhances the song. It was shot entirely on location in Lahore, Pakistan and features Pakistani drama actress and VJ ‘Hina Sultan’.
