Popular artist Daler Mehndi will be rendering his voice to a musical number from Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s upcoming film Mirza Sahebaan. The track is a theme song that will feature throughout the film. Daler Mehndi’s classically trained, powerful voice is director Rakeysh’s lucky mascot as the singer has previously delivered a number of chartbusting songs in his films. The song will see the musical team of Daler Mehndi, Gulzar and Shankar Ehsaan Loy come together to create magic with music.
According to sources, Daler wished to sing the folk ‘Mirza’ for his fans as a single even before he was asked for it. He was discussing the same with his team when he got a call from director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra who requested him to sing a verse for his film Mirza Sahebaan.
The singer who was enthusiastic about recording this song said,
“God gives me all such opportunities that my heart yearns for. I wanted to sing ‘Mirza’ and here I am! I have already recorded for it. Hope the audience loves this song as much as they love the others.”
Daler who was invited to sing a verse ended up singing the entire song. During the recording lyricist Gulzar was so lost in Mehndi’s rendition of Mirza that he forgot to look at the lyrics and applauded the singer for the spell that his voice cast on the listeners. Post the recording, they discussed the folklore of Mirza Sahebaan and Daler promptly asked Shankar Mahadevan to give him just a note following which the singer took off extempore with his amazing voice to deliver an awe inspiring track “Mirza Sahebaan”.
Daler is happy with his performance in the song and is excited about its release. The singer’s last outing with director Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra was for the gurbani track featured in the film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, the song became a super success.
