THE LUNCHBOX Becomes #1 Hindi Film of 2014

Ritesh Batra’s award-winning drama THE LUNCHBOX has now become the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2014 in North America. The Irrfan Khan hit has grossed $1.45 million to date surpassing the $1.3 million grossed by both Salman Khan’s latest action picture Jai Ho and the sleeper hit Queen to set a new record for this year.

Now going into its seventh weekend of release in the US from Sony Pictures Classics, THE LUNCHBOX continues to add more theaters each week and is currently playing in 129 locations with its total sales still rising rapidly. It is also the only Hindi film of 2014 to reach the nationwide Top 20 box office chart having done so in each of the last two weekends.
