What's Happenin'

Urban Asian got #HoliWASTED at Holi in the City!

Holi is beautiful celebration of colors that has slowly taken over the world! Holi is no longer celebrated in just India but in many places around the world. This past weekend we attended the Holi in the City event at New York City’s Hudson Terrace!

The beautiful day was perfect for a Holi celebration and the location was a perfect choice. The event was scheduled from 12pm to 6pm on Hudson Terrace’s rooftop floor. The top floor has a retractable ceiling that let in the beautiful sunny day and added an outdoor ambiance to an otherwise classy indoor event. We arrived quite early and were surprised to find so few people in attendance.

Of course this led to some shameless selfies with my friends to pass the time.

The event boasted a well-stocked bar, DJ Sharad’s magical skills and some of every New Yorker’s favorite food, Kati Roll! Although it had a slow start the party was amazing, around 2-3pm most of the guests arrived and the place was packed! The crowd went wild when the Dhol player, Ravi Bhindra hit the floor! The DJ’s were great; they kept the guests dancing the entire time. DJ Sharad didn’t actually hit the DJ booth until later in the afternoon but of course he can do no wrong, he had everyone on their feet. Due to the fact that it was an indoor event colors were rationed so there wasn’t as much Holi action as I would have liked, but fun none-the-less.

There was good food, good music, good drinks, a cute Dhol player, Holi ke rang and some dancing on tables (let’s get real guys, you can’t play Gunday’s “Tune Maari Entry” and not expect a girl to break it down). There was so much excitement I was totally #HoliWASTED had to take a nap.

Clearly Urban Asian had a good time, definitely a successful event in out book. We hope everyone else had a blast as well and keep it locked on Urban Asian for more updates on the latest parties and events around town!
