Panjabi Film Festival Rocks the crowd bale bale style!

Thousands of GTA residents enjoyed a long weekend full of Punjabi film, music and culture during the second annual BMO Punjabi International Film Festival 2013. The five day festival featured feature films, short and documentary films, concerts, gala launch, after parties and plenty of stars.

Legendary Punjabi film Deol family Mr. Dhamendra and sons Bobby and Sunny attended the gala launch along with Punjabi singer and actor Harbhajan Mann, Bollywood legend Om Puri, American Idol Contestant Gurpreet Sarin, Pakistani actresses Meera and Wiam Dhamani and popular Afghanistani actress Khatira Hakimi.

More than 30 films were screened during the festival including National Award Winning film Nabar, Pakistani Punjabi film Ishq Khuda, Stupid7, first Punjabi horror film Sikka, comedy Jatts of Golmaal, and more than 20 short films from around the globe. All films were screened free for audiences.

The festival also featured outdoor entertainment and film screening of Stupid 7 at Wildwood Park in Malton and closed with a night concert featuring Master Saleem at Brampton’s Rose Theatre.

“This year’s festival brought Pollywood, Lollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood together with films and personalities from many countries where Punjabis are thriving,” says Sunny Gill festival President and founder.“This year’s festival was bigger and better than ever and we look forward to continuing to grow with the support of our community and sponsors,” says Inder Singh, festival Vice President. “We’d like to thank our entire team and all our supporters, especially the community that attended and enjoyed the event.”
