If you haven’t realized already by reading UrbanAsian, I truly love charitable causes. “Festival of Hope” is one such cause that is taking place in India on May 10, 2013. Like PinkRunway that is run in the US, “The Festival of Hope” is an Indian charity / fundraising fashion show that hopes to spread the word regarding breast cancer. The festival has attracted attention from models, designers, artists, and more in India. It is set to be an unforgettable event!
Headlining the show will be the well known and extremely singer, Annamika, who will also launch her new track “Boom Boom” at the grand finale. Adding some star power to the night as showstoppers will be the legendary actress Neena Gupta and Imam Siddique (of Bigg Boss 6 fame).
The organizer and founder of the event, Shalini Vig Wadhwa (also founder of 100 degrees), shared with us why she thought of this event and the significance of the show:
“There is life after Cancer and each day is a celebration of life. My salute to the family and more to husbands who stand by their spouses and encourage them to come out as winners. Not every woman is a candidate for reconstruction or is even interested in it, but far too few get the information they deserve today. Our goal is to significantly increase the dismal number of breast cancer patients who are ever even offered a consultation about reconstruction after the physical and emotional stress of their cancer treatment.”
