In previous seasons of Jhalak Dikhlaja (India’s version of “Dancing with the Stars”), we’ve seen singer Shaan come on Jhalak to perform one of his songs (Fans will remember that he did a jugalbandi with Talat Aziz). Now, in season six of Jhalak Dikhlaja – if rumors are to be believed – we’ll see the Bollywood pop sensation as a contestant!
Shaan shot to fame as a pop singer back in the ’90s, and went on to have a very successful career in Bollywood as a playback singer. Born Shantanu Mukherjee in a musical family, Shaan always knew that he wanted to be a singer. Shaan’s family has been involved in Indian Cinema for years. His grandfather was the lyricist Jahar Mukherjee, his father was the late music director Manas Mukherjee, and his sister was fellow pop singer, Sagarika. In addition to playback singing, Shaan has been a successful host on television, hosting successful shows like – Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L’il Champs, Star Voice of India and STAR Voice of India 2. In Music Ka Maha Muqabla, his team, Shaan’s Strikers, finished as the runners up to Shankar Mahadevan’s team.
