Bollywood Music What's Happenin'

Daler Mehndi goes "Commando" with "Lena Dena"

Daler Mehndi always has what it takes to get you to get up and dance!  “Lena Dena” from the film Commando is no different.  With the release of the track, Bollywood is high on yet another dance anthem from the unstoppable Bhangra King.

It’s a difficult composition and quite a feat by a 22 year old musician (Mannan Shah) to compose such a song and then get the power house of performance, Mr. Mehndi, to sing his tune.  Loaded with the signature Daler Mehndi gusto and Punjabi flavor, the song takes a steep classical turn in the antra.  It is here that the debutante musician director Mannan Shah had Daler Mehndi floored.  Mannan Shah is producer Vipul Shah’s nephew.  Mannan makes his debut as a music director with “Commando.”

The Song “Lena Dena” is already creating waves and has been completely lapped up by Indian and Pakistani audiences alike, with incessant media interviews of Mr. Mehndi regarding this track. “Commando” released this weekend and has managed to keep viewers coming back!  Music Director ‘Mannan’ is beaming with the success and praise that the music is gathering for him.

After giving a super hit in Telugu for the film “Baadshah” – last month, Mehndi is jubilant with this April offering “Lena Dena“.

Regarding Mannan, Mehndi tells us,

“Mannan is brilliant. To compose and arrange music like this at this age is completely commendable. He’s a kid to watch out for.”
